We are seeking a Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be a compassionate professional, capable of managing all aspects of funeral service and embalming with a high level of care and respect. This position is based out of our West Saint John, NB location, Castle Fallsview Funeral Home.

About Castle Fallsview Funeral Home:
Castle Fallsview, part of The Brenan Group Ltd., is a locally-owned full service funeral home, carrying on a legacy of service to West Saint John and surrounding communities that stretches back more than a century. The historic building that has been home to the business for 70 years, was recently renovated to offer modern amenities but has lost none of its elegance in the process. Now the only provider on the west side of the city, Castle serves 175-200 families each year under the care of a dedicated staff of funeral professionals and support personnel, many of whom are long term employees. Catering to a broad mix of traditional, memorial and minimal service customers, the team puts a premium on personalized service to the very loyal local market that has relied on Castle Fallsview for generations.

Key Responsibilities:
- Arrange and conduct funeral and memorial services, including coordinating with families, clergy, and other service providers.
- Perform embalming, restorative work, and cosmetology to prepare deceased individuals for visitation and services.
- Provide support and guidance to families throughout the funeral and aftercare process, ensuring all their needs and wishes are met.
- Assist with the removals and transportation of the deceased to and from the funeral home, cemetery, or other locations as needed
- Ensure compliance with all local, provincial, and federal regulations related to funeral service and embalming.
- Handle necessary paperwork, including death certificates, permits, and other legal documents.
- Maintain the cleanliness and readiness of the funeral home and embalming facilities.
- Work closely with other staff members to provide seamless and comprehensive service.
- Work cooperatively with staff from other Brenan Group locations – two funeral homes and a crematorium in Greater Saint John.
Qualifications:
- Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer in NB, or eligible for licensing.
- Previous experience in funeral directing and embalming is required.
- Ability to handle sensitive situations with tact, empathy, and professionalism.
- Interpersonal and communication skills.
- Organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in computers.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects when necessary.
- Ability to work shift work (evenings, weekends) and on-call shifts.
